What is UZEDY?
UZEDY is an FDA-approved, long-acting injectable (LAI) form of risperidone used to treat schizophrenia in adults.
Instead of taking a pill every day to help treat your schizophrenia symptoms, with UZEDY, you get 1 injection every 1 or 2 months. A doctor or nurse will give your injection of UZEDY in a healthcare center. You and your healthcare provider can discuss which dosing schedule is right for you.
What is a long-acting injectable (LAI)?
A long-acting injectable—or LAI—is a type of medicine that’s injected into your body and releases slowly over time.
What are the most common side effects with UZEDY?
The side effect profile of UZEDY is expected to be similar to that of comparable oral risperidone doses.
Injection site reactions including a lump or itching were reported with UZEDY.
Am I a good candidate for UZEDY?
Talk to your doctor to see if UZEDY may be right for you. Before you start UZEDY, you’ll need to ensure you can tolerate risperidone. This means you may take risperidone pills before getting your first injection.
UZEDY may be an option for you if:
What is the difference between 1- and 2-month dosing?
If you get an injection once a month, you’ll have 12 appointments per year. If you get an injection every 2 months, you’ll only have 6 appointments per year.
UZEDY allows for a flexible dosing schedule. For example, if you normally get an injection once a month, you can switch to once every 2 months at any time—and switch back if once-monthly UZEDY is a better fit for you. You and your healthcare provider can discuss what’s best for you.
How much does UZEDY cost?
Each insurance policy is different, and the cost of UZEDY depends on your plan. Teva Shared Solutions® can help you—or your caregiver—confirm prescription coverage and pharmacy options for eligibility and coverage as well as Medicare and Medicaid coverage. We can also help you understand any prior authorization requirements for UZEDY and find financial assistance options. With the Savings Offer for UZEDY, eligible patients may pay as little as $0 per dose.* Call 1-800-887-8100 (Monday-Friday, 9 AM-8 PM ET) to find out if you’re eligible for financial assistance.
*Offer is available for patients with commercial insurance only. This offer is NOT available for patients eligible for Medicare, Medicaid, or any other form of government insurance coverage. See full Terms and Conditions for eligibility, restrictions, and any additional questions about this savings offer.
How do I get started on UZEDY?
To learn more about UZEDY, make an appointment to talk to your healthcare provider. Together, you can discuss if UZEDY may be right for you. Our Doctor Discussion Guide can help you get the conversation started.
After you’ve started UZEDY, Teva Shared Solutions® provides over-the-phone nurse support for questions or concerns you or your caregiver may have about UZEDY. Plus, we can help you find an injection site near your home or work. Call 1-800-887-8100 (Monday-Friday, 9 AM-8 PM ET) to get support.
What if I miss a dose of UZEDY?
If you miss a dose, talk to your healthcare provider about rescheduling your missed appointment as soon as possible.
