RELAPSES CAN BE HARMFUL
A relapse is a sudden return to a severe mood episode. This can be an episode of either mania or depression.
IT’S POSSIBLE TO PREVENT RELAPSES
It can be common for people with bipolar I disorder to not take their daily pills as prescribed. Missing doses can lead to mood episodes, relapses, and even hospital visits—so preventing relapses is important.
A longer-lasting option may be a fit for you.
Long-acting injectable treatments don’t have to be taken every day.

With UZEDY, you get an injection once a month.
No extra risperidone pills or additional starter doses are needed once you begin UZEDY. It’s absorbed rapidly after it’s injected and then slowly releases medicine into your body over time.
UZEDY is injected just below the skin, in your arm or abdomen. You and your doctor can decide which spot is better for you.
*In the clinical trial, all participants first received another long-acting risperidone injection. About 60% of them (303 out of 501 people) were judged to be stable and then randomized to either the same dose of risperidone long-acting injection or placebo and monitored for relapse. Time to relapse was delayed in patients receiving risperidone long-acting injection, compared with patients receiving placebo. The majority of relapses were due to manic rather than depressive symptoms.
†The efficacy of UZEDY is based on another risperidone long-acting injection that was administered into the muscle. UZEDY works similarly but is injected just below the skin.
